Summer Safety Tips when Hosting a BBQ at Home

Hosting summer parties at your house is the perfect way to spend time with friends and family while enjoying the great outdoors. I know we’ve talked a lot about how to set up your space and what you might need to have great events at your place:

But when it comes to hosting summer parties at your house, safety should always be a top priority. By taking these precautions, you can help prevent accidents and create a fun, enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. Remember, staying safe doesn't mean sacrificing fun!

So get ready to host the best summer parties while keeping safety and responsibility at the forefront of your planning.

How to Throw a Fun and Safe Party:

  • Pools - I cannot stress this one enough, if you ever have children at your house, make sure your pool is fenced and that you have a safety plan for when children attend. Believe me, a fence around a pool can take away the aesthetics of your yard, but saving lives and reducing worry from all attendees is worth it.

  • First Aid - Have a good first aid kit at home. From sunburns to scrapes to insect bites, you want to have all the summer ailments covered to help protect you and your guests.

  • Yard - Make sure your yard is well-maintained by trimming any branches or shrubs that could be hazardous. Make sure that all lawn tools are safely stored away from the party area. This also means making sure the entire yard is well lit once the sun goes down and everyone can see where they’re going (coming from someone who regularly trips even with the best of lighting).

  • Fire Safety - Keep your grill (or smokeless fire pit) away from covered spots on your porches, decks, or patios. Make sure someone always has their eye on the grill when it is hot. Even when not actively cooking with it, it’s best to keep an eye on it. Keep your fire extinguisher current and know where it is when cooking with your open flame.

You can still have fun and enjoy a happy and healthy summer, safely. I hope you have some great events this summer, and remember, if you need help redesigning your outdoor space for a special event or just for your own enjoyment, you can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to get started.
