The Artscapes Journey

We start each project with a low-cost initial consultation, where we learn about your vision and get to know what brings you joy. You will leave the consultation with expert design ideas and sketches that are included in your consultation fee and yours to keep. Once we decide to work together, we begin our 5-step process where we will dive deeper into your vision to start the planning to create the space that you love.

(1) Initial Consultation

We meet in-person or via Zoom to fully discuss and walk (if possible) your site to review the outdoor spaces you would like to improve. Based on our first call, I bring expert design ideas and sketches to serve as a starting point for our discussion. If we are a good fit, I send you a design fee agreement that gives you a high-level overview of the scope of work, cost of design (based on your budget and space), and summary of the proposed solutions.

(2) Schematic Design Development

Once the design fee agreement is signed, I obtain the plats and create a preliminary design that conveys the proposed improvements and locates existing improvements that may not have shown up on the initial survey. The design includes improvements like hardscapes (e.g., walkways, retaining walls), planting, and drainage solutions. This step also outlines the scope of the project and conceptual design of the project while considering scale and relationships between different spaces.

(3) Idea Sharing and Design Presentation

You will have an opportunity to share ideas from Pinterest and photos you find, as well as outline your wants/needs for the project. We will also share resources and present the design in a meeting or via Zoom meeting.

(4) Installation Plan and Proposal

At this point, we will create landscape blueprints, 2D, and 3D drawings and select materials.

(5) Project Installation

Here we engage the contractors to begin the work. We look over the timeline that was agreed upon and connect you to the contractors. Work begins with demo, grading and in-ground work. We visit the site throughout installation. In the end, we complete a final walkthrough with you to ensure you understand how to maintain your outdoor spaces so you can enjoy them for years to come.
